Great Viennese string sound
The music capital Vienna has always been famous for its string sound. In the large hall A of VSL's own Scoring Stage, the string ensembles of the Synchron Stage Orchestra enter into an almost symbiotic connection with the extraordinary acoustics of the large hall “Stage A” in order to create a great string sound, which is one of the highlights of the Big Bang Orchestra represents.
“Lyra” is the first module of the Big Bang Orchestra, which is exclusively dedicated to string ensembles. The recordings of 14 first violins and 12 second violins playing in unison, as well as 8 violas playing an octave lower guarantee a richness of sound that is perfect for large phrases and uplifting melodies.
Recording the three string groups playing together offers the immense advantage that the 34 musicians coordinate perfectly with each other. The balanced sound created in this way is, thanks to the balance of intonation, timbre, phrasing and vibrato intensity, from a single source and is characterized by a harmonious timbre.
The library contains a large selection of playing styles such as variants of short notes, long notes with two vibrato intensities, legato, espressivo, sfz, sffz, crescendo and diminuendo, tremolo, fast tone repetitions, half-tone and whole-tone trills, half-tone and whole-tone glissandos and pizzicati. Like all libraries that are played with the Vienna Synchron Player, the tempo of articulations, such as B. repetitions or glissandi, can easily be changed with the integrated time stretch feature.
The performances of the string ensembles of BBO: Lyra have been completely re-recorded and are perfectly coordinated with the tutti recordings of other Big Bang Orchestra modules. With the available mixer presets you get a perfect sound "out-of-the-box", with which you can start immediately. "Room Mixes" are CPU and RAM-saving stereo mixes in which the signals from the Decca tree and the surround microphones are combined in a premix. Other mixer presets come up with a combination of individual microphone signals that are on separate mixer channels and can be changed as desired. These include B. “Stereo Decca Tree” and “Surround to Stereo” - the latter adds the signals from the surround microphones to the stereo output of the synchronous player in order to achieve a denser, richer overall sound. The “Surround” presets can be used in actual 3D audio setups, e.g. B. Dolby Atmos or Auro 3D. In the “Processed” category you will find mixer settings with names such as “Compressed”, “Sparkling”, “Wall of High Strings” and many more. All mixer presets were masterfully created by Bernd Mazagg, Chief Recording Engineer at Synchron Stage Vienna.

Vienna Instruments and software require a ViennaKey
The USB dongle from eLicenser (Steinberg, formerly Syncrosoft) is not included in the Vienna Instruments, but must be purchased separately. So you have to order at least one ViennaKey together with your first collection. It is automatically placed in the basket with the first instrument, but can be deleted again if you do not need it. Each ViennaKey can store up to 100 product licenses.
You also need an internet connection on any computer to authorize a ViennaKey.
