Playfully Ahead of its Time

Introducing LoFi Playtime, a revolutionary time manipulation plugin that harnesses the power of pitch alteration to create a myriad of captivating effects. While it evokes the nostalgic charm of old tape machines, LoFi Playtime goes far beyond, offering a unique new approach to time and pitch and allowing users to explore an incredibly rich tapestry of possibilities.

Play With the Time of Your Audio in New Ways

With two virtual tape machines running simultaneously, each at different playback speeds, you can instantly alter the character of your input signal. These dual signal paths can be spread variably from centered to hard left and right, providing a dynamic stereo experience.

LoFi Playtime is a one-of-a-kind plugin that adds a distinctive character and width to your music by letting you play with time in ways you've never imagined. Utilizing Yum Audio’s virtual tape circuits, LoFi Playtime is designed to deliver complex effects that would be challenging to replicate on an analog device.

Endless Creative Possibilities

Among its many options, LoFi Playtime enables you to create textures from any audio source by freezing your sounds in time and modifying the sound of the frozen signal on the fly. The Reverse effects can be triggered independently on both machines for intriguing layered warping. The Tape Age feature introduces characterful pitch fluctuations and chorusing effects, while the delay function allows you to craft warbling delay lines and blend them seamlessly with the dry signal. Whether you prefer to work in sync with your session or in a free time-based mode, LoFi Playtime adapts to your workflow, making it an essential tool for any producer looking to infuse their projects with unique, time-warped sounds and textures.

With LoFi Playtime, you can:

  • Adjust Pitch: Adjust your audio's pitch to create entirely new sounds.
  • Reverse: Play your audio backward for intriguing effects.
  • Add Delays and Space: Enhance your tracks with captivating delays and spacious effects.
Features:

● Unique new approach to time and pitch
● Two virtual tapes with different playback speeds, instantly change the played back pitch of your input signal
● Create textures out of anything and freeze your audio in time
● Change the sound of your frozen signal on the fly
● Use Tape Age to create characterful pitch fluctuations and chorusing effects
● Use delay to create warbling delay lines and mix them with the dry signal
● Works in sync with your session or in free time based mode

A Twist of Tape

Each tape can read out with slow, normal, or fast speed. The slow speed will read slower through your signal and play back the audio an octave lower. The fast speed will read out with a higher rate and play back the audio an octave higher.

Each tape head has an age dial which allows you to set how long the virtual tape has been in use for. When it is set to 0%, the tape is of pristine quality and will have no pitch fluctuation. When the values are higher, more dropouts plus warble will happen and artifacts will be added to the signal character.

Reverse will reverse your audio and work together with the Slow, Normal or Fast speed settings of the virtual tape.

Freeze, Feedback, Time, and Spread

The freeze control allows you to create a very interesting looping texture from your input signal. The best thing about it: you can change the tape speed, age, brightness, and also reverse the tape even when the tape is frozen. This means that you can freeze your signal at any point in time and create amazing textures.

While the tape sections of Playtime alone offer a great deal of creative options, we decided to add a delay section as the icing on the cake. The more you increase the feedback slider, the longer the feedback of each delay line will last.

The basetime dial is a central control of the plugin and defines how long the time is for the readout steps of each of the tape heads. This will also set the size of the Delay and Freeze functions.

This toggle switches between time and synced mode. In the Time mode the dial will be set in milliseconds, allowing you to set a time that runs independently of your DAW. With the time mode to SYNC, the time will be set in note values and the plugin will restart its cycle when starting playback.

This slider does what it says. It spreads the sound of the two virtual tape heads.
