CONCERT GUITAR

As a polyphonic instrument, the concert guitar poses a special challenge. Chords only appear natural if chords are also sampled! After 3 years of producing orchestral sample libraries, the Vienna Symphonic Library team felt able to accept this challenge and record the full diversity of the concert guitar with all its playing techniques and nuances.

Last but not least, the performance algorithms of the Vienna Instruments made the samples and performance elements playable and inspire with impressive authenticity.

The Vienna Concert Guitar came about through a combination of unique conditions: The spiritual father of the project, Thomas Meitz, studied concert guitar and took a whole year to work out the structures of this library as part of his diploma thesis for his sound engineer studies. Thanks to his practical background as a long-standing recording engineer and chief editing engineer of the Vienna Symphonic Library, he was then able to put his concept into practice without compromise and optimally. The concert guitar used here is a handmade one-off. The instrument's unique arched back was assembled from several strips of wood. The balanced and homogeneous sound enables both solo performances and accompaniment functions.
