Synchronous Duduks - A duduk in the key of Bb and a bass duduk in D

The duduk is an Armenian double-reed woodwind instrument made of aged apricot wood with a tradition going back thousands of years. Its warm, soft, and slightly nasal timbre can resemble the cor anglais or a gently played tenor saxophone, but given the possibilities for shaping the sound with blowing pressure, vibrato, and flourishes, it's the wind instrument that most closely resembles the human voice.

UNESCO has included the Armenian duduk and its music on the World Intangible Cultural Heritage List. The instrument was introduced to a wider audience through film and TV music such as Gladiator, Avatar, Syriana, Game of Thrones and many others.

This Synchron World Winds Pack includes a duduk in the key of Bb and a bass duduk in D. Signature vibrato created with the cheeks and flourishes such as grace notes contribute to the instrument's distinctive and expressive sound.

Both duduks were played by multi-instrumentalist and ethnic instrument expert Veronika Vitazkova, who is also a member of the Synchron Stage Orchestra. She regularly plays concerts with various orchestras, such as the ORF Vienna Radio Symphony Orchestra, the Vienna Chamber Orchestra and the Lower Austrian Tonkünstler, toured Europe as a solo flautist with Ennio Morricone, and played at the Salzburg Festival and Hollywood in Vienna.

Since she has worked on countless film scores in the Synchron Stage Vienna, she is now very familiar with the large Stage A, whose extraordinary acoustics contribute so significantly to the overall sound of the individual instruments.

In order to capture the instruments with this excellent spatial sound in the best possible way, seven separate, phase-coherent microphone arrangements were used. All microphone signals are available separately in the Synchron Player mixer window. A large number of presets offer perfect mixer settings and serve as a starting point for your own sound creations.

Below you will find the sampled tones of the basic diatonic scales of both duduks. Nevertheless, this software instrument also makes all chromatic intermediate tones available to you. Legati were chromatically sampled, with the exception of the portamenti of the bass duduk. If you would like your composition to be performed by a duduk player, please keep in mind that not everything you can play on the keyboard can be used in a live performance.

• Duduk in B flat: pitch range: f3 – c5 scale in B flat major (B, C, D, Eb, F, G, A)

• Bass duduk in D: pitch range: g2 – a#3 scale in D major (D, E, F#, G, A, B, C#)

This can either be done on your computer (without additional hardware) or alternatively on an iLok USB dongle that can be purchased separately . The iLok USB dongle can be plugged into any computer in order to use the protected software on several computers. Your licenses can be managed as you like using the iLok License Manager and protected against loss or theft by additional insurance ( Zero Downtime with TLC ).

To activate the product you need an internet connection on any computer and a free user account on www.ilok.com . Use the Vienna Assistant to download and install your software products and sample libraries authorized via iLok  .

Please check with the software manufacturer which iLok version is required as a minimum if you want to use a hardware iLok!
