EZX DRUMS OF DESTRUCTION

The "Lamb of God" duo Josh Wilbur and Chris Adler present a rich arsenal of the heaviest metal drums - the Drums of Destruction for EZdrummer 2 and Superior Drummer 3 !

The Drums of Destruction EZX is a co-production of engineer and Grammy winner Josh Wilbur and "Lamb of God" drummer Chris Adler. Each of them has been considered a pioneer in their special field for 2 decades, together they enjoy the unconditional respect for the unmistakable sound that made Lamb of God one of the most influential pillars of modern metal.

This EZX library contains two complete drum kits, Chris' personal Mapex drum kit and a Pearl Reference kit chosen by Josh, which he has used on many of his productions. There are also 5 additional alternative snares, an extra bass drum and a huge collection of Chris' own cymbals to choose from. At Josh's request, the drums were recorded at Hybrid Studios in Orange County, California/USA using an SSL4064G+ console, the finest analog signal chains and outboard devices, as well as a very special selection of the highest quality microphones. With its acoustically perfect 300m2 recording room, this studio with its enormous spaciousness is ideal for drum recording, while still producing a surprisingly tight and very defined, transparent, powerful sound.

In the Drums of Destruction EZX, Chris' unique, powerful and driving drumming meets Josh's extremely modern but at the same time very organic sounding production style. In addition, there is a large selection of useful sound presets, many of which were created by Josh himself and perfectly represent the sound highlights of his most famous productions, some of which offer good starting points for your own sound design. No matter how aggressive and heavy the guitars and bass are in the production, powerful and uncompromising drums are the indispensable key to any good metal mix.

The Microphones & Signal Chains

Josh breaks down his microphone positioning and signal chain philosophy!

• Kicks: Shure BETA 52A - Neve 1073 - Distressor
• Snares: Audix i5 and Shure BETA 98A (blended on top) – Sennheiser e 609 on bottom – all Neve 1073 – Distressor bussed together through the SSL G+.
• Crashes: All crashes were through API mic pres. The only EQ is minimal high pass filter.
  For microphones, he used:
• AKG C451 B on the crashes
• AKG C414 on the ride
• Octavas on splashes
• Neumann KM84 on hats
• Neumann U87 for room
• Toms: Shure BETA 98A on top and Sennheiser MD421 on the bottom rack toms and AKG D112 on the bottom of the floor toms tops and bottoms were bussed together with EQ through the SSL G+.

The cymbal microphones are positioned more as spots rather than overheads. It gives more control over each individual crash and splash. The only compression was on the kicks and snares. The toms and overheads he never compresses going in.
