SYNCHRON-ized Solo Strings (sordino) - Muted solo strings

  • First & second violin, viola, cello and bass

  • Emotional, nuanced performances played with mute

  • Recorded with the short, controlled surround sound of the Silent Stage

  • Updated and optimized for the Vienna Synchron Player

  • Production-ready sound out of the box

This Collection is the second library of SYNCHRONized Solo Strings featuring first violin, second violin, viola, cello and double bass played con sordino.

By putting on the damper, the transmission of vibrations from the strings to the resonance box is reduced and the sound is darkened. Only wooden dampers were used for these recordings, as only this type of damping can be perfectly adapted by the instrument maker to the bridge of the instrument and thus a homogeneous overall sound can be achieved.

The delicate and detailed playing of these solo strings was originally recorded for the VI Collection Solo Strings II. In order to use the extensive possibilities of the Vienna Synchron Player, the samples have been revised, expanded and optimized, making the instruments even more authentic, user-friendly and flexible.

The instruments were recorded in VSL's second studio, the Silent Stage, which is characterized by a short, controlled spatial sound and was specially built for sample recordings. The relatively dry recorded instruments can be placed in any virtual acoustic environment.

With the reverb and placement presets included in the Synchron Player, you can position the soloists to the left, center or right in the large hall of the Synchron Stage Vienna, or as part of the string groups on the 1st console, combined with microphones such as " close, classic, or distant. In this way, the instruments not only fit seamlessly with the sound of all other libraries in the Synchron Series, but can also be used "out-of-the-box" in any production.

However, the solo instruments are much more flexible. Turning off the convolutional and algorithmic reverb built into the Vienna Synchron Player lets you place the musicians in any virtual acoustic environment, from living rooms to concert halls, from the highly authentic spaces of the Vienna MIR Pro 3D to artificial reverberation and echoes -Effects.

The VSL team of sound editors and sound engineers worked intensively to achieve the most natural, balanced and finely tuned sound image possible. The volumes of all articulations have been completely revised, which ensures seamless transitions when switching between different articulations, e.g. B. from vibrato to non-vibrato articulations. The velocity crossfades have also been extensively optimized. Finally, the advanced release sample technology ensures that the perfectly fitting note-off sample is automatically added to every note, whether played short or long. So you can e.g. B. achieve a very restrained portato style of playing with the beginning of crescendo tones, or a very expressive style of playing with easy abphrasing of each tone with the beginning of diminuendo tones,

If you have SYNCHRONized Solo Strings installed, you can use the "Merged" presets to have playing styles played with and without dampers combined in one preset.
