Small Ensembles – Great Sound

SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings features 21 instruments (six first violins, six second violins, four violas, three cellos, and two double basses) that not only cover the entire spectrum of chamber music literature, but can also enhance any larger string orchestra, such as the 46-piece Synchron Strings I, by adding more nuances, colors and a wealth of variations to your orchestral palette.

For creating SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings, Vienna’s sound editors went back to the raw, unprocessed sample data of the Chamber Strings I Collection. The original recordings were completely re-edited and re-mastered in order to achieve an all-new, modern chamber string sound that excels in terms of aesthetics, playability and realism, and that is optimized for use alongside the Synchron Series instruments. What’s more, the Vienna team added new velocity layers to the previously available legato articulations, such as “molto espressivo forte” variations. For more details please have a look at the Articulations menu.

Vienna Synchron Player

Being a product of Vienna’s new Synchron Series, SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings comes with the new, free Vienna Synchron Player that incorporates the most powerful sample playback engine on the market, featuring unprecedented streaming performance while providing a new level of ease-of-use. You may play short notes, long notes with various attacks, legatos, scalable vibrato intensities and note repetitions intuitively just by moving one or two preconfigured controls, with a minimal need to switch articulations manually. With the Synchron Player’s innovative algorithms, the liveliness of these small string ensembles unfolds magically and effortlessly.

World-Class Acoustics

For SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings, Vienna’s developers added a specifically designed convolution reverb derived from Vienna MIR Pro to the Synchron Player, featuring the outstanding and unique ambience of the 540 m2 (5,813 sq.ft.) main hall of Synchron Stage Vienna. The perfectly engineered reverberation and placement presets combine customized impulse responses with expertly crafted reverb settings for each group of the ensemble. By adding the ambience of Synchron Stage Vienna’s Stage A to the dry samples in real-time, SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings perfectly blend with any other product of the Synchron Series, resulting in a production-ready sound “out of the box”.

Chamber Strings Recordings

When editing and processing the raw Silent Stage recordings for use within the Vienna Synchron Player, the Vienna team paid utmost attention to achieving full compatibility with the larger, 46-piece Synchron Strings I. All articulations, and especially the velocities, were meticulously balanced and adjusted for perfect matching, making it easy to switch smoothly between different articulations or to move seamlessly through non-vibrato and vibrato layers. As a result, you may merge both string libraries or instantly change a large string arrangement to a smaller one (and vice versa) with SYNCHRON-ized Chamber Strings, without the need to adjust and tweak your settings.
