SYNCHRON TIMPANI II
5 Adams Artist Alpha Timpani from Synchron Percussion II
Timpani were originally used as cavalry instruments and played on horses. They found their way into the orchestra around 1670 and have been the most frequently used percussion instrument in the orchestra ever since. They are often used to set accents and to reinforce the bass range in the orchestra.
Synchron Timpani II contains the five timpani of the Synchron Percussion II collection, played with soft mallets as they are often used in (late) romantic music and film music.
The five Adams Artist Alpha timpani (20", 23", 26", 29" and 32") together achieve a range of two octaves. Single beats were recorded with 12 dynamic levels and 4 repetitions (round robins), in decaying and muted (muted ) Variants.
There are also different types of eddies (rolls). With the “static” rolls, the dynamics can be faded over from pianissimo to fortissimo with the velocity crossfade control. In addition, there are "dynamic" rolls with crescendos and diminuendos over 2, 4, 6 or 8 seconds. As with all synchronous percussion libraries, you don't have to finish the rolls, you can quit at any time by simply releasing the key, and the customized release sample will automatically play.
For a particularly powerful and full sound, two timpani tuned in octaves were also recorded at the same time, which are available as a separate patch.
To make working with the Synchron Percussion timpani easier, a preset is included that combines all patches from Synchron Timpani I and Synchron Timpani II and allows easy switching between medium-hard and soft drumsticks. If Synchron Percussion I is not installed, using the Soft Mallets preset is recommended.
