From the baroque to the avant-garde

  • Harpsichord, harmonium, prepared piano

  • Optimized for the Vienna Synchron Player

  • FX presets for mystical and strange sounds

  • Realistic sound placement in the Synchron Stage Vienna

  • Ready-to-use with tailor-made mixer presets

This library is based on the VI Collection Special Keyboards, which has been optimized and expanded for the Vienna Synchron Player. Thanks to the clear preset and patch structure of the Synchron Player, all registers and playing styles are clearly displayed and easily accessible. The large number of mixer presets with tailor-made convolution reverb impulse responses of the Synchron Stage Vienna make placement on the scoring stage and in your mix child's play. Of course, you can also turn off convolution and algorithmic reverb completely in order to place the dry signals of the instruments in any other acoustic environment.

In addition to the “classic” presets for solo and orchestral settings, the FX presets offer mystical, strange and unexpected sounds that were created using the sound processing options of the synchron player's internal mixer. They can also be used as a starting point for your own creations.

The harpsichord has a bright, overtone-rich sound. As a typical baroque instrument, it played a subordinate role in classical and romantic works. In contemporary literature, it is being used increasingly again in film and TV music productions due to its characteristic sound. Single tones and repetitions of a two-manual instrument are available in the following variations: 8 'solo registers, 8' double-choir registers and tutti (combination of two 8 'registers and one 4' register).

The harmonium is a reed instrument. The sound is created when air is passed over tongues of different lengths, which are set in vibration in this way. In contrast to the pipes of an organ, the harmonium produces more inharmonic overtones and, as a result, a gently floating sound.

The technique of the prepared piano gained greater fame primarily through the American composer John Cage, who around 1940 placed objects such as erasers, nails, wires, paper, etc. between the piano strings and thus created novel, percussive sounds and harmonies. The Bösendorfer concert grand was prepared with this technique, but it was also made to sound with bare hands (e.g. glissandi over the strings) and wooden mallets in order to generate a multitude of interesting timbres.

Outstanding acoustics

The Synchron Player for SYNCHRON-ized Special Keyboards contains a tailor-made convolution reverb module with Vienna MIR Pro technology, which provides an exact digital version of the 540 m2 recording hall of the Synchron Stage Vienna. With the help of tailor-made impulse responses in various positions in the room and the sound engineer-like reverb presets, the instruments are placed perfectly and in real time in "Stage A" of the Vienna Scoring Stage. SYNCHRON-ized Special Keyboards therefore deliver an immediately usable surround sound "out-of-the-box" and also merge seamlessly with the other products in the Synchron Series.
