Instrumental rarities

The transverse flute reached its heyday in the baroque era and is considered to be the forerunner of the modern flute. The baroque oboe covers the soprano register, while the oboe da caccia (“hunting oboe”) covers the old register. The latter also resembles the hunting horn more than the oboe due to its curved shape and its relatively large brass lintels. The ophicleide with its conical bore, like the tuba, belongs to the group of bow horns and is now being replaced by the tuba or the saxophone. The serpent is a forerunner of the bassoon or tuba and covers the bass register of the tine family. Tines were popular instruments in the Renaissance and Baroque periods, covering the soprano and sopranino registers. The krummhorn, in turn, creates the particularly “nasal” sound with which music of the Renaissance era is often associated.

The recorders are represented with the registers soprano, alto, tenor and bass. Natural trumpets were originally used in the military for signaling. Since they have no valves, they are about twice as long as modern valve trumpets. The natural horn also has neither finger holes nor valves or flaps. Only natural tones corresponding to the natural tone series can be generated by different lip tension. In order to be able to play natural tone scales on different fundamental tones, different vocal arcs are used. The glass harmonica was invented in 1761 and is a particularly extraordinary instrument. Glass bells of different sizes are stored on a common axis and are set in rotation with a pedal to generate the sound and set in vibration by the player's wet fingers. Today there are only approx.

Outstanding acoustics

The Synchron Player contains a custom-made convolution reverb module based on Vienna MIR Pro, which provides the extraordinary ambience of the 540 m² recording hall of the Synchron Stage Vienna. The perfectly coordinated reverb and positioning presets combine tailor-made impulse responses with masterfully designed reverb settings for all instruments and ensembles. The ambience of “Stage A” of the Vienna Scoring Stage is added to the comparatively dry samples in real time, so that the instruments of the SYNCHRON-ized Special Edition Vol. 7 fit perfectly with every other product in the Synchron Series.

Vienna Instruments and software require a ViennaKey !
The USB dongle from eLicenser (Steinberg, formerly Syncrosoft) is not included in the Vienna Instruments, but must be purchased separately. So you have to order at least one ViennaKey together with your first collection. It is automatically placed in the basket with the first instrument, but can be deleted again if you do not need it. Each ViennaKey can store up to 100 product licenses.
You also need an internet connection on any computer to authorize a ViennaKey.
